Let the Right One in

Let the Right One In - John Ajvide Lindqvist Honestly I preferred the film - which is perfect. For me the book lacked the tension and that very Swedish fatalism that pervades Sweden's best films - maybe it is there and just does not translate. For me there was too much emphasis on the pedophilic nature of Ely's keeper/companion, which was far more subtle in the film, and the theatrical version the love story between Ocsar and Ely seemed more real - maybe that was just the impact or not really working out what was going on until the end credits rolled! Disappointing ultimately for me, but still a good read I guess.
