The Prince (Donno Translation)

The Prince - Niccolò Machiavelli Don’t really know what to make of this. On the one hand you could accuse Machiavelli of wickedness for suggesting that to rule you need to be a bit of unethical and a bit brutal some of the time, or on the other hand you could praise him for these observations of human nature. In either case you can certainly see the application of his ideas (either by design or co-incidence) around the world now and in the past. Even in a liberal modern democracy such as our own it makes you think – which of these levers are being used against us for the gains of the powerful – and which of them *should* be used to help create a better society?
